Privacy Policy
At Mehra Dot Dev, we believe in transparency and honesty. We hope you will find this privacy policy clear and transparent. Do not hesitate to reach out to us at tackbok.support@mehra.dev if you have any questions.
Data Collection & Usage
The Tackbok application does not require you to create an account. Therefore, we neither store nor have access to your personal entries on our servers. Your data is stored and processed locally unless you explicitly enable the optional Google Drive backup described below.
We obtain your email address only when you explicitly request support via email. We use your email strictly to contact you to provide support, feedback, or important information.
Tackbok offers optional, one-time support purchases. Payment is processed by Apple or Google through their in-app purchase systems, while RevenueCat helps the app retrieve products and purchase results. Tackbok does not ask for a donor name or email address, does not maintain a donor leaderboard, and does not unlock features in exchange for support. RevenueCat uses an automatically generated anonymous app user identifier and receives the product, store, and transaction data needed to provide the purchase service. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
Google Drive Backup (Optional)
Tackbok offers an optional feature that allows you to securely back up and sync your journal entries across devices using your own Google Drive account. If you choose to enable this feature, the application will request access to your Google Drive strictly to upload and retrieve your backup files.
We want to be absolutely clear: we (the developers) do not have any access to your Google Drive data, your journal entries, or your backup files. All data is transferred directly between your device and your personal Google Drive account. We do not store your Google Drive credentials or any journal data on our servers, nor do we share your Google user data with any third parties. This integration is provided solely for your convenience to keep your data safe.
Cloud backup data is protected in transit and by Google Drive. Tackbok does not provide end-to-end encryption for cloud backups in this version. Google supplies the account email so the app can show the full address of the connected Google Drive. The selected email is kept beside the credentials in secure storage on that device so Tackbok can identify the connected account without fetching the address again; on Android it also pins background refresh to that account. It is deleted on Disconnect and is never written to a backup, app database, log, diagnostic report, or analytics event. Disconnect affects only that device and does not revoke Tackbok's Google access for other connected devices.
Tackbok stores each journal backup as a complete compressed snapshot containing entries, tags, prompts, profile details, deletion records, and conflict records. Photos and voice memos are stored separately and referenced by the snapshot. The app keeps a small recent snapshot history for crash-safe updates and recovery, and removes older unneeded snapshots during routine cleanup. Before publishing changes, a device checks the latest device snapshots and merges them with its local journal; this is device sync, not real-time collaborative editing.
Analytics (Opt-In, Off by Default)
We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand how the app is used and improve it. Analytics is disabled by default: it only runs after you explicitly opt in, via the Analytics toggle in the app's settings. Until you do, the PostHog analytics library is never even loaded or initialized and nothing is sent from your device. If you turn the toggle off again, data collection stops immediately, any unsent events are deleted, and the anonymous identifier is discarded.
When enabled, analytics is anonymous. Events are linked only to a randomly generated identifier — we never collect your name, your email, or anything you write in the app (no journal text, photos, audio, or tag names). Where a number could hint at your journal's contents, such as an entry's length or how many entries you have, the app reports a coarse range (for example "51–200") instead of the exact value.
If you turn on the optional cloud backup, it can send a few anonymous events of the same kind — for example when a backup starts, finishes, or fails. These record only coarse facts, such as which storage provider you chose, roughly how long a backup took, and whether it worked. They never include your journal text, your photos or recordings, your file names, or your email address. The app's privacy screen always shows the complete, up-to-date list.
Opening the Support screen and using its purchase, share, or rating actions may also produce anonymous analytics events when analytics is enabled. Purchase events contain only the selected support tier and a coarse result or error category. They never include a price, currency, receipt, transaction identifier, RevenueCat user identifier, or payment details.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. Any data that is transmitted from your device to our third-party service providers (such as PostHog or RevenueCat) is used strictly to provide, maintain, and improve the app's functionality (e.g., processing optional support purchases and analyzing app usage). We do not share your information with any third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
Additionally, the Tackbok application is completely ad-free. We do not display any advertisements within the app, nor do we collect data to build advertising profiles.
Third-Party Services
We currently use the following third-party services for our app:
- PostHog: This service helps us collect and analyze anonymized, opt-in usage data to improve our app (see the Analytics section above). For more information, please view the PostHog Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: This service manages and processes in-app support purchases and their status. Apple or Google processes the payment. For more information, please view the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Google Drive (Optional): If you enable cloud backups, the app interacts with the Google Drive API to securely store and retrieve your data on your personal Google account. For more information, please view the Google Privacy Policy.
