What is Tackbok?

Tackbok is a free, open-source gratitude journal for iOS and Android. You can write entries, add photos and voice memos, record moods, use tags and prompts, and set optional daily reminders.

Is Tackbok free?

Yes. Tackbok is free, open source, and ad-free. Optional one-time support purchases may help fund development, but they unlock no features and the journaling experience is not behind a paywall.

How does supporting Tackbok work?

The Support Tackbok screen offers four voluntary, one-time options. Prices are shown by your app store in your local currency, and every option can be purchased again. Apple or Google processes the payment, with RevenueCat helping Tackbok retrieve products and purchase results. Tackbok does not ask for your name or email and does not send a separate receipt; your app store provides the purchase record and receipt.

How can I try Tackbok?

Beta previews are available now through Google Play for Android and TestFlight for iOS. You can also join the waitlist for release news.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Tackbok does not require an account, email address, or cloud profile to keep a journal.

Does Tackbok work offline?

Yes. The core journal works offline and your entries are stored locally on your device. Internet access may be needed for optional services such as updates, cloud backup, or support purchases.

Where is my journal data stored?

Journal entries, photos, and voice memos are stored on your device. Tackbok’s developers do not operate a server that holds or reads your journal content.

Can I lock the app?

Yes. App lock can require Face ID, Touch ID, Android biometrics, or your device PIN, pattern, or passcode. It is an access gate and privacy cover; it does not encrypt the underlying SQLite database.

Does Tackbok use analytics?

Only if you explicitly opt in. Analytics is off by default and does not collect journal text, photos, audio, tag names, your name, or your email. You can turn it off again in settings.

Can I back up or move my journal?

Yes. Tackbok supports backup and restore. You can also import entries from a Tackbok backup, Gratitude App, or Presently. Android exports can be saved to a location you choose.

What languages does Tackbok support?

Tackbok currently supports English, German, Arabic, Hebrew, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Arabic and Hebrew layouts include right-to-left support. Hindi and other languages are coming soon.

How do reminders work?

You choose whether to enable a daily reminder and when it should arrive. Reminder prompts can reflect your selected focus areas, and tapping one opens a new entry with the prompt ready.

Can I contribute or inspect the source code?

Yes. Tackbok is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and developed in public on GitHub. You can inspect the code, report issues, and contribute improvements.
